Guided Nature Walks every Saturday from 7 am to 8.30 am / on request
Key take away – A quite relaxing experience. Time well spent in Nature. Grey herons, storks, cormorants are a given. Ideal for all age groups.
“What is there to see in Kadamakkudy?” — this is a question I have been asked countless times over the years.
The usual answers are quite predictable: boating, kayaking, sunsets, and perhaps a visit to the local toddy shop.
But if Kadamakkudy were only about these experiences, why would I keep returning here so regularly for more than a decade—without ever losing my love for this place?
There is something far deeper that draws me back.
For me, Kadamakkudy is not just a destination; it is an experience. It is a place where time slows down, where nature speaks softly, and where every visit reveals something new.
It is in the quiet rhythm of the backwaters, the magical golden hours, the countless birds, and the profound sense of peace that this place offers.
Kadamakkudy is not merely a place to visit.
It is a place to feel, to pause, and to reconnect—with nature and with yourself.
I call this an invitation to experience true tranquility.
For more than a decade now, I have been walking and cycling across the length and breadth of Kadamakkudy Islands with my camera at least twice a week. I feel truly blessed to live close to these pristine islets, which allow me to return here again and again.
Watching and photographing birds brings me immense joy, peace, and fulfillment. According to eBird, more than 200 species of birds have been sighted in and around Kadamakkudy Islands.
For me, birdwatching is meditation.
It helps me disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and immerse myself in moments of silence, peace, and tranquility. The golden hours here are simply magical—mesmerising beyond words.
That said, first-time visitors often arrive with great expectations, only to feel disappointed due to the lack of hospitality and visitor-friendly facilities in the area.
